To Do List

Tasks I plan to accomplish each month:



July
  • Start to harvest the potatoes
  • Cut back the lettuce and camomile
  • Eat the cherries and cut back the branches which fruited
  • Harvest garlic and dry in the shed
  • Remove dodgy looking tomato leaves
  • weeding
  • Check potato leaves for blight
  • create supports for asparagus
  • plant my discount carrot seeds
  • cut grass and hedge
  • put up better support for clemantis, kiwi and cherry
  • thin celeriac

May
  • Sow swede directly outside if no seedlings to plant out
  • (late May) harden off Sweetcorn for planting out towards end of June
  • plant more celeriac
  • earth up the potatoes (cover the leafs with earth)
  • thin out seedlings
  • replant peas, sunflowers and artichoke if they have failed.
  • prepare the asparagus bed
  • buy more strawberries (Daisy the rabbit has eaten most of last year's)


April
  • Sow leeks directly outside if no seedlings to plant out
  • Keep weeding (and do the front garden)
  • Harden off and plant out Tomatoes
  • Sow Swede indoors
  • Sow swede outdoors after killing the indoor seedlings
  • Make lots more paper pots
  • Plant:
    • 9* brocolli
    • more asparagus
    • Cauliflower
    • More sunflowers 
    • More onion sets
    • Celeriac
    • peas
    • lettuce / herbs 
    • Imperial star artichoke
March
  • Sow Broccoli & Squash seeds
  • Plant onions in garden 
  • Plant potatoes
  • Plant rubarb


Feb
  • Dig out Holly tree roots and clear beds of stones and weeds
  • Add farm manure to beds
  • Put cardboard mulch down on beds
  • Sow Artichoke, Leek, Celeriac Cauliflower seeds
  • Put Sweetcorn & Tomato seedlings in paper pots (and keep them alive!)
  • Plant garlic in garden
  • Buy compost bin
  • Start to get rid of old slabs
  • wash old pots
  • put out rest of potatoes to chit
  • Remove stones from existing bed and dig over
  • Sow some lettuce indoors
  • plant leeks again
